Omiya Science and Technology High School

Overview

Saitama Prefectural Omiya Science and Technology High School(OST) is a new type of public high school that was founded in April 2026. Our mission is to nurture future leaders in science and technology.

Key Features of the New School

Studying Science and Technology

To nurture the next generation of leaders, we provide systematic and practical educational programs. We offer specialized departments in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, and Information Science. OST is the first high school in Saitama to establish a specialized Information Science department.

Focusing on University Admission

The curriculum is designed to support students pursuing higher education in science and technology by equipping them with in-depth specialized knowledge and preparing them for university admission. We offer opportunities that spark lifelong learning and provide career guidance to help students reach their aspirations.

Empowering Students through Inquiry-Based Learning

At OST, we focus on inquiry-based learning. Students take the lead by asking questions, exploring ideas, and solving problems on their own. Instead of one-way teaching, we encourage active learning to deepen understanding. By giving students many chances to discover what interests them, we help spark curiosity and build a strong foundation for future careers in science and technology.

Departments

OST is the first specialized high school in Saitama to offer both engineering and informatics programs.

Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

Learn how aircrafts and spacecrafts are designed, how fluids move, and how materials behave under different conditions through hands-on learning in engineering, manufacturing, and design.

Robotics Engineering

Discover innovative ideas and technologies that make robots more helpful in everyday life. Learn how to design and develop robotic solutions to solve real-world problems and respond to the needs of a changing society.

Electrical Engineering

Learn about power supply systems and energy efficiency. Discover new technologies that support sustainable, smart, and future-ready energy solutions for modern society.

Architectural Design Engineering

Learn about the structure, design, and aesthetics of buildings from various cultural and technical perspectives. Gain the skills to design functional, comfortable, and visually appealing interior environments.

Informatics

Information Science

Learn to handle information scientifically, identify problems, and create valuable solutions using digital tools. Build a strong foundation in programming, data science, and information systems, while gaining hands-on experience in creating digital content like 3D animation.

School Life That Encourages Growth and Independence

At OST, students enjoy a vibrant and well-balanced school life where they build lifelong friendships, explore their intellectual curiosity, and develop specialized skills. Instead of strict school rules, student life is guided by a “Student Code of Conduct” created by the student council. This unique approach fosters independence, self-discipline, and a culture of mutual respect. With a free and open atmosphere that celebrates individuality, students are empowered to take on new challenges without fear of failure—and grow through every experience.

International Exchange

We are committed to fostering global awareness and cross-cultural understanding through meaningful international exchange activities. Our partnership with Chiayi Industrial Vocational High School in Taiwan provides students with valuable opportunities to engage in cultural and academic exchange. Through a structured global education program, we aim to nurture individuals who can confidently express their unique strengths and thrive in an international society.
